Put an end to name fumbling with the help of Jon Scieszka
Children's Literature Roundtables are truly wonderful, and so are young teachers. Colleen Eckardt and Bridget Hearsey, two new teachers in the Victoria district, gave a fabulous presentation at our last Roundtable on using literature to inspire young readers. They hauled in a huge stack of books (including some of my all time favourites as well as some I hadn't heard of previously) and spoke about how they can be used in various learning environmentst. A total bonus was that they turned us all on to a very cool article by Jon Schiska that you just have to read if you have ever stumbled over someone's name. It is a characteristic piece that no self-respecting Schiska fan will want to miss. Here is the link. More reviews coming. I promise. Sheryl
